Flayva & Glitch — Facade Identity signage installation in Al Ghurair Centre, Tower 1 — Dubai

Project overview

Two new destinations opening inside an established Dubai landmark needed to announce themselves on a facade that was already carrying an anchor tenant identity. The brief was scale — visible from the road network, holding its own after dark, and doing it without disturbing the operating centre below.

Scope of work

  • Technical detailing and production
  • Illuminated external signage
  • Elevated facade installation
  • DM permit coordination
  • Testing, commissioning and handover

The challenge

What made it difficult

A live, occupied tower leaves very little room to work. The elevation was already committed at its upper level, the installation zone sat directly above active pedestrian and vehicle circulation, and the two new identities had to coexist on one vertical band without either one collapsing into the other. Everything above ground level meant elevated access, method statements and permit coordination before a single fixing went in.

The concept

How we approached it

Treat the vertical band as a single stacked composition rather than two separate sign orders. Each identity gets its own field with clear separation, sized so that the reading order from the street is deliberate — anchor, then Flayva, then Glitch — with letterforms scaled to the viewing distance from the road rather than to the space available on the wall.

The solution

FROM DRAWING
TO HANDOVER.

  1. 01

    Detailing

Setting out was referenced to the tower's own vertical service band so the signage aligned with the architecture instead of floating on it. Fixing detail, power routing and driver positions were resolved against the substrate before production started.

  2. 02

    Production

Fabricated illuminated letter sets produced and pre-assembled in sections sized for elevated handling, with faces and diffusion selected so each identity holds its colour and shape at night.

  3. 03

    Permit coordination

Dubai Municipality permit coordination was carried alongside landlord and centre-management approvals, sequenced so the installation window matched the approved access plan.

  4. 04

    Installation

Elevated facade installation over an operating site, staged around centre trading hours, followed by testing, commissioning and handover of both identities.
