Project overview
A multi-tenant lobby is the highest-pressure wayfinding position in any building. Every visitor passes it, most are there for the first time, and the tenant list changes continuously.
Scope of work
- Freestanding directory units
- Directional sign family
- Modular tenant slats
- Lobby installation
The challenge
What made it difficult
Two failure modes dominate. The first is legibility — a directory that lists everything and communicates nothing. The second is maintenance — a directory so integrally built that a single tenant change means a new panel.
The concept
How we approached it
Separate the permanent from the changeable. The unit, the header and the level structure are fabricated once. Tenant entries live on modular slats that a facilities team can swap without touching the rest of the sign.
The solution
FROM DRAWING
TO HANDOVER.
- 01
Directory units
Freestanding units positioned on the natural approach line from the entrance, at a height and angle that suits both seated and standing readers.
- 02
Modular tenant listing
Slat-based listing so tenant changes are a slat replacement rather than a refabricated face.
- 03
Sign family
Directional and identification signage sharing one typographic hierarchy, so a visitor learns the system at the directory and keeps using it down the corridor.
