Project overview
A residential development under construction is, from the street, a building site. The hoarding is the only part of it a prospective buyer can see finished — so it has to show the thing being built rather than hide the thing being built.
Scope of work
- Perimeter site hoarding
- Large-format panel printing
- Panel-grid artwork setting out
- Installation around a live build
The challenge
What made it difficult
A long perimeter run means the artwork crosses many panel joins. Photographic imagery is unforgiving about that: a seam through a face or a logo is immediately visible. The site is also live, so installation happens around ongoing construction traffic and changing ground levels.
The concept
How we approached it
Lay the artwork out against the real panel widths first, then place the imagery so that joins fall in open areas — sky, water, planting — and never through a focal element. The result reads as one continuous view rather than a row of printed boards.
The solution
FROM DRAWING
TO HANDOVER.
- 01
Setting out
Artwork planned against measured panel widths so every join lands on a natural break in the image.
- 02
Print and substrate
Large-format print on rigid panel, with finish and inks selected for extended outdoor exposure and direct sun.
- 03
Live-site installation
Installed in sections around active construction access, with alignment checked across the run rather than panel by panel.
